Avon’s Modern Revitalization Makes for the Perfect Year Round Travel Destination

Surrounded by captivating nature and scenic areas, Avon, Colorado is a must-visit destination for travelers wanting a more relaxed mountain experience. For years, the town has been at the forefront of ongoing modern revitalization efforts to encourage year-round travel. Hanna Albertson, Director of Marketing at East West Hospitality, tells us that, “The town’s leadership aimed to create a more dynamic community by enhancing infrastructure, improving public spaces, and fostering economic development.” She continues, “This sustained effort reflects a commitment to growth and improvement that benefits both the local community and the broader region.”

As a result, new lodging destinations were brought into fruition, such as East West Hospitality’s One Riverfront Townhomes, Frontgate and Riverfront Village. “Specific milestones and projects have been completed over different phases, indicating an ongoing effort rather than a one-time initiative. With Avon being at the base of Beaver Creek as well, this revitalization aimed to improve the overall experience for visitors of both Avon and Beaver Creek,” Albertson explains. She also tells us that the company had its eyes on the site for years and were finally able to secure the lot and begin a multi-phased project plan. The development of the townhomes was completed during the early winter of 2022 and 2023. Its neighboring condos were finished in February 2024.

Design

Inspiration behind One Riverfront’s Townhomes’s design began with the vision of creating a sustainable and intentional mountain community. Albertson shares that the vision has now expanded, “To be an iconic, uncompromising, and terrific place to live in Riverfront Village that serves as the final piece of this fantastic community. A place where all owners in the neighborhood feel welcome to gather and socialize and embrace the quintessential mountain lifestyle.”

Like any well-designed stay, a creative team of professionals were fit with the task of elevating One Riverfront Townhome’s look and feel. An East West Hospitality representative shares, “[Zehren and Associates’] innovative approach to marrying physical attributes of the existing infrastructure with new, modern design elements makes One Riverfront a stunning example of contemporary and timeless design.” Its cozy mountain modern flair was achieved by Boulder-based boutique firm TRH Interior Design and contracted by Evans Chaffee Construction Group.

For travelers looking to visit Avon in the summer, East West Hospitality will be introducing Peak Pursuits, “a new collection of iconic adventures and experiences in the scenic mountain destinations of Colorado and California.” Albertson says, “adventures are infinitely customizable to enable guests to unlock the way to the ultimate mountain getaway, family vacation or golf escape with the knowledge and assistance of East West Hospitality’s seasoned guest services team.” Custom itineraries are provided to guests booking East West Hospitality properties – including Beaver Creek – with prices according to the specific itinerary and party size. 

Off Season Charm

Whether traveling solo or as a group, Avon is a mountain town that’s suitable for any adventure-seeking traveler. Since it’s centrally located in the Eagle River Valley, there are plenty of outdoor and indoor activities to enjoy. When asked what makes Avon different from Vail’s luxurious resort experience, Albertson says that it, “offers a more laid-back, community-oriented, and affordable experience, with a focus on year-round activities and local living.” 

CH&L was recently invited to explore Avon during a stay at One Riverfront Townhome 13. Though considered an off-season in May, we found it to be the perfect time for a relaxed mountain weekend getaway.

The Lowdown

Design:

• An effortless mountain design imbues the entire town home with its clean lines and hygge-like inspiration. It’s natural wood finishes, spacious layout and oversized windows make for a refreshing concept.

Rooms:

• A total of four bedrooms and three bathrooms are found throughout the townhome – with the capacity to sleep eight. Each room has distinct characteristics, but is tied together by mountain modern charm. 

Amenities:

• A cozy living space greets visitors upstairs with a gas fireplace and 75” television with a TBC surround sound system. There’s also a balcony that overlooks the property’s pool area outside. In addition, One Riverfront guests can access Westin Riverfront’s fitness center, day spa, outdoor, ski valet and more.

Outdoor Activities:

• Since Avon is a walking town, a stroll on Riverside trail along Eagle River is a scenic experience. Other activities include a Riverfront Express Gondola ride and Beaver Creek skiing.

Dining:

• Stoke & Rye at The Westin and Lookout Bar are delicious dining options that are just a walk away.

Travel Time:

• A total of 106 miles takes you from the bustling city of Denver to the quaint town of Avon in just about an hour.
