New Boutique Hotel Salutes the Spirit of the West
The Benson Hotel and Faculty Club offers hospitality to global thinkers embracing innovation
Now open, Aurora’s Benson Hotel and Faculty Club offers state-of-the-art accommodations and a gathering place for discerning guests, business leaders, and the Anschutz medical community. The hotel is owned and operated by the Denver-based Aimco real estate investment company.
Located just north of the UCH Medical Campus, the seven-story hotel features 18 suites, 88 guest rooms, a fitness center, a ballroom, board rooms, and an event garden. Named after CU President Emeritus, Bruce D. Benson, the facility was built as an off-campus retreat. Dorrian Franklin Phillips, the hotel’s general manager says, “The hotel is meant to provide an off-campus respite for members of the CU Anschutz faculty to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some quiet time to exchange ideas with colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere.” The hotel is open to the public and situated in convenient proximity to Denver’s International Airport.
The idea for a high-quality hotel arose by request from the surrounding community and the CU Anschutz faculty. It identified the need for close-to-campus lodging for visitors. The new hotel provides faculty members and guests with exclusive access to private lounge and meeting spaces on the hotel property. The hotel’s many amenities include a ballroom, conference rooms, and outdoor meeting spaces. Importantly, the Benson Hotel provides convenience for those requiring accommodations and meeting space within walking distance of the medical campus.
The beautifully appointed rooms and impeccable common spaces are equipped to offer a high-quality business and travel experience with a taste of upscale luxury. An on-site, 100-seat restaurant, The Common Good, is a place that celebrates the vibrant Aurora community. It is open to members, guests, and the public for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.
Brunch service is available on weekends. The menu features locally inspired and sourced cuisine and a full bar serving beer from the nearby Ursula Brewery. Seating is available inside or outdoors on the wrap-around patio. In addition, a Mondo Market deli-style restaurant is planned just west of the hotel providing eat-in or carry-out options.
A 4,000 square foot Flower Garden outdoor event lawn allows tenting and may be reserved for weddings, receptions, and outdoor ceremonies. Valet parking service is complimentary for both the hotel and restaurant.
