It’s Back to the ’70s at Winter Park’s New A-Frame Club
Celebrate your mountain experience in retro luxury
Classic mountain hospitality combined with an edgy, retro twist makes the new A-Frame Club in historic Old Town Winter Park the latest in mountain vacationing. Located less than one-third of a mile from the base of Winter Park, the A-Frame Club consists of 31 A-Frame cabins on three acres that embrace a 1970’s design aesthetic, delicious culinary offerings, and a spacious patio facing the ski hill for perfect après ski gatherings. “A-Frame Club is taking mountain hospitality back to the heyday for skiing in the ’70s, and ‘80’s that I grew up with,” says Kyle Zeppelin, founder of Zeppelin Hospitality.
Inspired by classic advertisements from the 1970s, Zeppelin Development, Skylab and Denver-based Wunder Werkz partnered to incorporate a nostalgia-forward alpine culture into the overall designs. The A-Frame cabins feature a main floor living room, kitchenette, a full bath, a loft bedroom with a desk and a freestanding Onsen-style soaking tub. Tall windows let in the mountain light, and walk-out decks provide views of the forest and the Fraser River. Each cabin is built with cedar, fir and birch panels and stands 28 feet tall to match the surrounding tree line. Interior materials include warm, natural leather, earth tones of brown and green, Malm fireplaces and Noguchi lighting.
The A-Frame Club boasts a Saloon open to the public and guests daily. Wood-fired, French-Alpine food and beverages are available for both lunch and dinner. Lunch includes menu items such as grilled veggies with house-made dipping sauces, an A-Frame burger made with ground brisket, and French onion soup. Standout delicacies like charred beef short rib with bone marrow mustard glaze and venison schnitzel with wild mushroom fricassee are on offer for dinner.
The bar features an outdoor, heated après ski deck with an expansive mountain view. Colorado beers on tap, herbal liquors and spirits, a large European wine selection, and hot cocktail options pair beautifully with the fresh crepes, charcuterie boards and other savory nibbles and desert snacks.
Next door to the Saloon is Alpine Sun, Winter Park’s family-owned and operated ski shop outfitting visitors since 1984. The A-Frame Club is located directly across from the last shuttle stop before the base of the mountain and a few blocks away from the Winter Park Express Ski Train Stop, which is directly accessible from Denver’s International Airport and Union Station. Overnight ski tune-ups and other ski-related services are readily available to guests.
