Design Influenced by Contemporary Art Reflects Today’s Culture and Society
Fine modern art creates a dynamic that displays personal expression and style
Clayton Lane Fine Arts has been a go-to in the Rocky Mountain region since 2006 for acquiring contemporary fine art. Integrating contemporary art into home décor permits the breaking of “traditional rules” and introducing paintings and sculpture that address human diversity of thought. Committed to featuring the talent of established Blue Chip Masters while also nurturing the emerging careers of early-to-mid-career creatives, Clayton Lane Fine Arts facilitates connections between their respective bodies of work.
Contemporary artwork is less easily defined than traditional art and opens itself to wide viewer interpretation. Often eclectic, and lacking the traditional standards of uniformity and organization, it creates a cultured aesthetic that is both compelling and thought provoking.
Carrigan, Clayton Lane’s art director, points out that, “Art is a barometer of life and a reflection of the world we live in.” With a delicate interplay between artwork and the environment in which it is placed, art can appear to shift and change as the light wanes during the day. This creates an opportunity for new details to subtly emerge within a composition.
Some current trends that resonate in urban environments are pieces with minimalist color palettes that soothe the senses. Pop art is also enthusiastically collected for its urban, edgy vibe. Collectors curating artwork for a mountain home are frequently international clients who are open to works from all over the world. Carrigan emphasizes that each art collector is unique with distinct preferences and patterns of collecting.
Clayton Lane Fine Arts takes these differences into careful consideration when working with their clientele. “While preferences are different, a commonality that collectors share is that subconscious attraction that draws them towards specific types of artworks,” says Carrigan. “It is as innate as breathing.” Clayton Lane has showcased the artwork of Old Masters while introducing the work of new creators to patrons. For decades, the gallery has assisted customers in their journey to own a small piece of art history.
“More recently, I’ve facilitated the private acquisitions of infamous artists like Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, and Pablo Picasso,” Carrigan notes. She explains that she derives great satisfaction from her efforts to introduce new collectors to pieces they love, or to help build the collections of experienced buyers. She says, “I think people would be surprised how much art teaches us about our past, present, and future.”
