The Taste of East Coast Italian Fare Comes to Greenwood Village
Restaurateur and owner of Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood ventures into Italian cuisine
From the exterior, the frosted windows and warm light hint at the magic inside the new Oliver’s Italian restaurant. The family-friendly dining spot is modeled after neighborhood Italian restaurants found in New York and Boston where owner, Sean Huggard, says he’s enjoyed some of his favorite meals.
The bright, open dining space features the main dining room and a covered terrace taking advantage of the abundance of Colorado sunshine. The chic, urban eatery offers a menu of delicious entree selections available at a reasonable price point. “Our goal is to focus on the classics using the highest quality ingredients,” Huggard says.
Following traditions handed down for generations, the pasta dough for their Roman style pinsa (pizza) is fermented for five days and contains a low gluten count. The hand pressed dough is baked until 75 percent done, and then re-baked to create an airy crispness. All dishes are crafted with low ingredient counts and use the finest available products.
A fresh oyster bar provides several types of oysters daily, and there are fish choices on the menu to satisfy every dietary preference. Classic spaghetti and meatballs make a great choice for younger diners, and Sunday brunch features rustic baked egg dishes. The Carbonara incorporates cured pork jowl, and the Italian sausage comes from Carmine’s Deli. Deserts are spectacular and include a not-to-be-missed Tiramisu.
Oliver’s Italian specializes in Negronis, a drink crafted with Campari, Gin, and Vermouth in different iterations. To discover a favorite or two, patrons may order the Negroni flight to sample several styles of the drink. A comprehensive wine list offering primarily Italian wines, and delicious Spritzes and cocktails ensure that your meal is accompanied by the finest spirits. Nonalcoholic, house made Italian sodas round out the beverage offerings.
A new neighborhood staple, Oliver’s Italian offers carry-out meal and wine options and hours that accommodate brunch, lunch, and early or late evening dining. Happy hour is daily from 2-6 p.m. The terrace can be reserved for private parties. The eatery is easy to find, and plenty of free parking surrounds the building.
With an emphasis on food, family and friends, reservations are suggested for dinner and brunch. To view the menu or make dining arrangements, please visit the Oliver’s Italian website.
