Nothing says luxury home like a state-of-the-art dream kitchen fit for a master chef, and an up-to-date, royal master bath. If you’re building or remodeling your kitchen and bath spaces in the near future, make sure your kitchen and bath design isn’t living in the past.

Here are three major kitchen and bath design trends slated to dominate in 2018 and 2019, as confirmed by the 2018 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, which hosted over 600 leading brands and unveiled innovative new products.

1. THE WHITE KITCHEN IS OUT!

If you’re a fan of bright and bold, then you’re going to love this trend taking the kitchen and bath industry by storm. Gone are the days of stark white kitchens and organic neutrals. Say hello to color, one of the hottest trends you can’t afford to miss. Some examples:

Large, colored stoves
Painted cabinets
Matte black is the new gray
Primary colors and gold are especially popular
Huge pops of color in shower doors and enclosures

2. TECH, TECH, AND MORE TECH

If you’re not thinking about The Jetsons when it comes to designing your kitchen—and your bath—then you’re going to fall behind. Induction continues to grow in popularity, and technology is present in all the latest appliances. Here are just a handful of examples:

Cameras in refrigerators
WiFi-enabled appliances, like soap dispensers that can reorder more when it runs out
Alexa integration
Refrigerator drawers that can be specifically temperature-programmed for what will be stored in each one
