The Cultural Landscape Foundation Presents the Garden Dialogue Series

Plan to attend the 2023 Garden Dialogue tour on July 15 from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Sponsored by the Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) and Design Workshop, this tour will take participants to the former grounds of Denver’s first Polo Club, now an exclusive three-acre residential neighborhood that blends Modernist forms with the beauty of nature and design.

The Garden Dialogue series offers access to exceptional landscapes from coast-to-coast featuring projects designed by some of today’s most talented landscape architects. Each tour is limited to 30 guests to ensure an intimate group experience and an opportunity to learn the secrets of creating a great garden. Design Workshop Principal, Mike Albert, will lead attendees on this immersive tour through a series of natural spaces showcasing the splendor of outdoor environments that thrive in Colorado’s arid, high-altitude climate.

Located at the site of Denver’s first Polo Club, this tour includes a portion of the 160-acre land parcel established in 1921 as the home of the Denver Freebooters polo team. When the club closed in 1936, much of the land was sold. In 1946, the Polo Club Homeowners Association was established, and work began to transform three subdivided areas into the residential area that exists today.

Long known as one of Denver’s premier neighborhoods, the Polo Club landscape is inspired by the nearby Denver Botanic Gardens and highlights the natural beauty of the Western region. Tallgrass meadows, colorful wildflowers, and picturesque rock outcroppings mingle near a Japanese garden, coniferous forests, dry stream courses, and open water vistas capturing Colorado’s breathtaking beauty in the heart of the city.

The Foundation and their partners hosts tour events across the country that shine a spotlight on our nation’s rich and diverse landscape heritage.
