Extra guest accommodations are always in season, but during the holidays they can give everybody some added wiggle room. As tiny homes, small living spaces, and designated suites for guests gain popularity, it can be a challenge to incorporate functional kitchen options. The newly introduced Armoire Kitchen by Functional Furnishings offers a solution to cooking in small spaces. Beautifully appointed, the Armoire Kitchen offers all the convenience of a traditional kitchen contained within 10 square feet.

“The Armoire Kitchen was conceived four years ago when one of our customers asked us to create something that would function as a serviceable kitchen while a remodel of their home kitchen was taking place,” explains Functional Furnishings Product Manager, Evan Briscoe. “We devised this approach and found that it has uses for many types of smaller living spaces.”

This innovative kitchen concept transforms a compact area, and the modern design works beautifully with any style décor. Intentionally arranged storage gives ample room to keep pots, pans, cooking utensils, and food items in the kitchen so all necessary supplies are conveniently at hand. The cabinet comes in four finishes to allow customers to select what best suits their space. Like the Murphy Bed concept, multi-use is a hallmark of the Armoire Kitchen, and the cabinet doors can be closed when the kitchen is not in use to camouflage its purpose.

The convertible kitchen provides room for appliances, a sink package, and versatile styling options in a compact, contemporary package. A template for the required electrical outlets, a drain stub out, and a water supply box provided by the company is sent to the customer in advance. Once complete, the installation of the kitchen is easily accomplished. Ideal for a tiny home, adjacent office space, basement living areas, AirBnBs, and accessory dwelling units (ADU’s), Briscoe says the kitchen takes a team of two about an hour to install upon arrival. “It really arrives as a plug-and-play product,” says Briscoe.

Briscoe notes that the company aims to install Armoire Kitchens in micro or studio apartment buildings in the planning or construction phases, student housing, stadiums and arenas, hotels, and senior living facilities when appropriate. “The ability to cook meals at home gives people a sense of normalcy they might not have otherwise.”
