Old Pine Candle Company: A “Scent-ational” Holiday Gift Idea

A handmade candle from Old Pine Candle Company is a pleasure to the senses. The glow of the candle adds warmth to any occasion while the enchanting scent fills the room. Co-owners Dani and Ryan Rooney started the soy wax candle company in 2015 from the comfort of their Denver home. Recycled salsa jars served as the vessel that held their soy wax candles that they gifted to their friends.

The candles were a success, and the company has grown into a woman-owned, Colorado-based candle company that hand-pours soy wax candles in small batches featuring nature-inspired scents. “All our scents are inspired by the beauty out our backdoor in Evergreen, CO. From the soaring Blue Spruce trees and the earthy scents of a forest floor to the refreshing air that accompanies a cloudless, bluebird day. We strive to bring the outdoors into homes and inspire an everlasting appreciation for the natural places that inspire us all,” says Rooney.

A mindful approach is taken when creating each handmade candle. From their home studio in Evergreen, the small team of candle makers heat soy wax and prepare the scents. Next, recyclable jars are warmed up and wicks are placed inside each jar. Each candle is hand poured into the jars and cured for 48 hours. “In our final steps, we trim the wicks, wipe and label the jars, and ensure we are creating the highest quality candles possible,” explains Rooney.

A strong commitment to sustainability and protection of the environment is core to the company’s mission. All products are packaged in plastic-free, eco-friendly materials and recyclable glass jars. “We are passionate about our belief that our world needs to create sustainable, intentional, high-quality products. For us, this means providing superior, clean-burning, 100% soy wax candles while taking responsibility for our environmental impact and providing an affordable candle that consumers can enjoy.”
