Wishes Take Flight with Community Support for the Holiday Season
Make-A-Wish® Colorado continues to grant wishes to children across the state
As the holiday season approaches, the staff at Make-A-Wish® Colorado would like to thank the community for their generous support. During the past year, the nonprofit has granted wishes to 377 Colorado children diagnosed with a critical illness and assisted on wishes for an additional 80 wish kids from other states. Each year, a strong network of corporate partners, schools, volunteers, and individual and corporate donors provide the support to ensure that Make-A-Wish Colorado can continue to grant wishes to waiting wish kids.
Wishes fall into five categories: wish to go, wish to be, wish to meet, wish to have and wish to give. By far the most popular category is a wish to go, which can transport wish kids and their families on a life-changing experience of hope and healing. Last year alone, Make-A-Wish Colorado granted 262 “wishes to go”, many of which required airline travel. The costs of these airline tickets are covered by Make-A-Wish Colorado, and the community can help by donating miles to help wish kids take flight. Donated airline miles are one of the most important gifts the nonprofit receives and can easily be made at wish.org/travel.
