7 Kitchens With a Pop of Color
Goodbye, simple and stark white—hello, bright and bold! It’s time we celebrated color in the heart of the home
For our kitchen issue, we’re taking a look back at our favorite colorful kitchens throughout the years.

“These clients didn’t want a white kitchen,” says designer Megan Daughtry of Proud House Studio, noting that the home’s views inspired the hues. “The rusty color is in shrubbery and winterberries that go red, and the soft taupe of the upper cabinetry is similar to dried grasses in the foothills.” See more at Smitten With These Chic Kitchens
The kitchen is clean, spare, and inviting, with tons of floor-to-ceiling cabinet storage. “We wanted it to feel earthy and organic but refined,” says Interior Designer Morgan Carper. See more at A Basalt Home Rooted in Sisterhood.
The kitchen was completely redesigned, and windows were added to make it a more functional and brighter space. The textured counter-to-ceiling Martyn Lawrence Bullard Mousharabia Fatima tiles from Ann Sacks add a fun pop against the Medallion cabinetry. The copper range hood from Artisan Crafted Home is finished in a dark antique brass. See more at A Home Inspired by Global Travels.
A taxidermied buck standing watch over the kitchen is a lone Colorado reference. It doesn’t feel cliché here, thanks to the white wall, flowery fabric and bold colors. See more at A Beachy Home in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Interior designer Nadia Watts and Diamond Homes completely redid this kitchen, removing the cramped center island and extending the counter in an L shape. They moved the sink to the opening that looks out onto the family room and put the range on the wall with a hood. “It’s a much more functional layout,” Watts says. “Before, there couldn’t be more than three people standing in the kitchen.” Watts chose Kashmir white granite for the countertops.
